Le vignoble du Château de Lauga situé sur la commune de Cussac-Fort-Médoc célèbre pour son fort du XVIIème siècle, est entouré par de prestigieuses appellations comme "Margaux" au sud, "Saint-Julien Beychevelle et Pauillac" au nord, et "Moulis Listrac" à l'ouest.

Depuis plus de sept générations, nous avons pu retrouver les traces des ancêtres de la famille BRUN grâce aux actes de mariage en notre possession dont le plus ancien date de 1846.

L'amour de la nature et de son produit, la connaissance de ce qui lui donne vie, l'évolution des techniques, le savoir-faire transmis et le respect de la tradition donnent à notre vin toute sa qualité et sa richesse en mémoire de nos aïeux et pour les générations futures.

The vineyard of Château de Lauga is located in the town of Cussac-Fort-Médoc, famous for its 17th century fort, and surrounded by prestigious appellations such as "Margaux" in the south, "Saint-Julien Beychevelle and Pauillac" in the north, and " Moulis Listrac "to the west.

For more than seven generations, we have been able to find traces of the ancestors of the BRUN family thanks to the marriage certificates in our possession, the oldest of which dates back to 1846.

The love for nature and its creations, the knowledge of what gives life, the evolution of the techniques, the know-how passed on and the respect of the tradition give our wine its quality and its richness in memory of our ancestors and for future generations.

JEAN BRUN

….

Né en 1863, ce tonnelier va se marier au lieu-dit Lauga avec Jeanne Chaigneau. Il hérite des vignes de son beau père et commence à commercialiser son vin sur la place de Bordeaux. En 1898, Bordeaux et ses Vins aux editions Feret, fait mention à Cussac-Fort-Médoc d'un BRUN au lieu dit LAUGA qui produit 5 tonneaux de vin.

Born in 1863, this cooper will get married at a place called Lauga with Jeanne Chaigneau. He inherits the vineyards from his father-in-law and starts selling his wine in Bordeaux. In 1898, Bordeaux and its Wines editions Feret, mention Cussac-Fort-Médoc mention of a BRUN instead LAUGA that produces 5 barrels of wine.

Il commence sa carrière en tant que régisseur au Château Bernones jusqu'à la vente de cette propriété. Suite à ces événements il revient habiter à Lauga et continu l’œuvre de son père en cultivant ses vignes et fabricant les barriques pour élever son vin. Il commercialisait déjà celui-ci sous l'estampe "Cru de Lauga Cussac-Fort-Médoc". Camille et sa femme Jeanne (fille de Jean PINEAU) eurent une fille et un garçon Charles.

He began his career as a manager at Château Bernones until the sale of this property. Following these events he returned to live in Lauga and continued the work of his father by growing his vineyards and manufacturer barrels to raise his wine. He already marketed it under the print "Cru de Lauga Cussac-Fort-Médoc". Camille and his wife Jeanne (daughter of Jean PINEAU) had a daughter and a boy Charles.

Jusqu'en 1935, Charles BRUN vendait son vin logé en barriques fabriquées avec son père Camille sur la propriété. Perpétuant la tradition familiale, Charles continua le travail de la vigne et la vinification du Château de Lauga. Il sera le premier à commercialiser sa production en grande partie en bouteilles. Implacable chasseur, pêcheur, et amoureux de sa région, il n’avait que plaisir de partager avec les touristes de passage les anecdotes locales.

Until 1935, Charles BRUN sold his wine housed in barrels made with his father Camille on the property. Perpetuating the family tradition, Charles continued the work of the vineyard and the vinification of the Château de Lauga. He will be the first to market his production largely in bottles. Implacable hunter, fisherman, and lover of his region, he had only pleasure to share with local tourists the local anecdotes.

 JEAN BRUN

Après avoir été aide familial puis employé de son père Charles jusqu'en 1965, Jean BRUN prend la responsabilité de la propriété. Sa motivation pour remplir sa nouvelle mission fut d'autant plus grande que grâce à son caractère optimiste et confiant en l'avenir à une époque peu favorable, il avait déjà anticipé cette succession par l'acquisition de terres à vignes depuis 1953 dans le but d'agrandir dès que possible son domaine.

C'est ainsi qu'en 1959, il s'équipa d'un tracteur pour remplacer la paire de bœufs, puis durant plus de vingt ans il continua à améliorer les conditions de travail autant pour la vigne que pour le chai en modernisant le matériel.

Jean va poursuivre son activité jusqu'en 1987 et prendra sa retraite à l'âge de 65 ans. Il répartit alors ses biens entre ses quatre enfants et partage à cette occasion la partie vignoble au profit de ses deux fils Jean-Pierre et Christian.

After having been a caregiver then employed by his father Charles until 1965, Jean BRUN took the responsibility of the property. His motivation for fulfilling his new mission was all the greater because, thanks to his optimistic and confident character in the future at an unfavorable time, he had already anticipated this succession by the acquisition of vineyard lands since 1953 for the purpose of enlarging as soon as possible his domain.

Thus in 1959, he equipped himself with a tractor to replace the pair of oxen, then for more than twenty years he continued to improve the working conditions as much for the vine as for the cellar by modernizing the equipment .

Jean will continue his business until 1987 and will retire at the age of 65. He divided his property between his four children and shared on this occasion the vineyard for the benefit of his two sons Jean-Pierre and Christian.

CHRISTIAN BRUN

Après une carrière dans l’aéronautique, Christian repris les rênes de la propriété en 1988. Il travaille à maintenir la qualité instaurée par son père et souhaite rester attaché aux valeurs qui ont fait l'histoire de la famille depuis son origine et notamment aux crus artisans dont la reconnaissance est aujourd'hui à nouveau acquise. Avec l’aide de sa famille il continue à faire évoluer la structure avec notamment la construction d'un chai à barriques en 1990, la rénovation du cuvier en 1994 et la plantation de nouvelles parcelles de vignes. Sa recherche perpétuelle de la qualité et son amour du métier l’entraînent à développer l’activité œno-touristique de la propriété, et à commercialiser sa production dans différentes régions françaises ainsi qu’à l’étranger.

After a career in aeronautics, Christian took over the reins of the property in 1988. He maintained the quality established by his father and wishes to remain attached to the values that have made the history of the family since its origin and especially to the raw artisans whose recognition is now acquired again. With the help of his family he continues to evolve the structure with the construction of a barrel cellar in 1990, the renovation of the vat in 1994 and the planting of new parcels of vines. His perpetual quest for quality and his love of the profession led him to develop the oeno-tourist activity of the property, and to commercialize his production in different French regions as well as abroad.

Depuis 2007, une nouvelle page de l'histoire du Château de Lauga commence avec l'arrivée de la 7ème génération. Après des études en viticulture-œnologie et diverses expériences en France ainsi qu’en hémisphère sud, je reviens sur la propriété pour travailler en collaboration avec mon père. Nous créons à cette occasion l'EARL C.BRUN avec comme objectif de perpétuer la tradition familiale tout en continuant à moderniser notre outil de travail dans le but de produire un vin de qualité chaque année.

Since 2007, a new page in the history of Lauga Castle begins with the arrival of the 7th generation. After studying viticulture-oenology and various experiences in France as well as in the southern hemisphere, Charles returned to the property to work in collaboration with his father. On this occasion, the trade name EARL C.BRUN is established with the aim of perpetuating the family tradition while continuing to modernize the work tools and continue producing quality wine every year.
